On Thursday, 12 November 2015 the final conference of the project ValidVol took place in Pisa, Italy. The conference has been held in the prestigious conference room of “Bastione Sangallo”, an ancient fortress of Pisa city walls. The Conference got the support from the Municipality of Pisa.
Participants in the conference have been 53 persons coming from Italy, Austria, Greece, Spain, and Northern Ireland. Some of them have been the validators, who participated in the ValidVol process in the partners countries, others have been representatives from Italian volunteering organisations, adult education institutions, local authorities, vocational centres, labour offices, NGOs.
Volunteering is an opportunity for seniors not only to be socially active and to feel part of civil society, but it is also a way to gain skills and competences. Particularly interesting are key competences that can be transferred into a professional context. To this regard, volunteering is a natural learning environment, where it is possible to acquire new skills and knowledge, and where it is possible to experience lifelong learning. This idea inspired also the project motto. (see photo).
