Final European Conference - Pisa, 12 November 2015

On Thursday, 12 November 2015 the final conference of the project ValidVol took place in Pisa, Italy. The conference has been held in the prestigious conference room of “Bastione Sangallo”, an ancient fortress of Pisa city walls. The Conference got the support from the Municipality of Pisa.

Participants in the conference have been 53 persons coming from Italy, Austria, Greece, Spain, and Northern Ireland. Some of them have been the validators, who participated in the ValidVol process in the partners countries, others have been representatives from Italian volunteering organisations, adult education institutions, local authorities, vocational centres, labour offices, NGOs.

The conference run the whole day. In the morning we had a greetings panel with the participation of Ms Sandra Capuzzi, Councillor of Social Affairs of Pisa Municipality, and Ms Cristina Grieco, Deputy President in charge of Education of Region Tuscany. The Italian MEP Silvia Costa sent a greetings note to the audience. Calum Morrison from NWRC presented the ValidVol project.

The programme continued with a panel on the state of the art of the validation of competences in Europe, with contributions from speakers from European Economic and Social Committee – EESC, the Open College Network in Northern Ireland, the Italian Ministries of Labour and University, CESVOT – Tuscany Centre for Voluntary Service, the Northern Irish MEP Martina Anderson, and the Institute for the Development of Vocational Training for Workers (ISFOL).

The last morning session focused on the presentation of the ValidVol process, the instruments developed, and the evaluation of the test phase.

After the lunch break, two working groups have been organised to share experiences from the ValidVol testing phase and to try out exercises from the ValidVol handbook.
